About The Tower

At the top of the 14th century old tower lies our B&B holiday accommodation, ideal for a romantic get-away and breaks to Edinburgh. The steep spiral staircase leads up past a glass walkway over the old dungeon and up to a rooftop walkway with panoramic views over the Firth of Forth. Why not enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the roof walk on a nice sunny morning?

The barrel vaulted bedroom has an en suite bathroom with stand-alone slipper bath. The bed is an enormous 7 foot wide ‘Emperor’ bed and there is a TV in the Great Hall. A microwave, mini-fridge, kettle and toaster are provided within the bedroom suite. A continental breakfast is provided for guests to enjoy at their leisure.

Guests staying in the Tower also have exclusive use of the finest room in the castle — the Great Hall — a magnificent old room with an original stone fireplace and log-burning stove, perfect for winter evenings. Stone window seats are built into the thick castle walls, and up on the ceiling are some of the original corbels from when the castle was destroyed by fire after the Battle of Pinkie.

From the battlements you can see the Forth Rail Bridge, Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh and the coast of Fife. The Tower sits within two and a half acres of garden including an orchard and sitting areas. Faside Estate is only ten miles from Edinburgh, with easy access to local golf courses, museums, towns and restaurants.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay. It was everything we had hoped for. Ian and Sue went out of their way explaining the history and even taking us to the train station the next morning so we could make our train. They were exceptional.

5 is a score too little to express how you feel in the Castle. Sue is a perfect host and her description of the history of the Castle is simply enchanting. You feel really like a king.

A very warm welcome on arrival, with an insight about the history of the tower. Amazed at what the facilty entailed. The choice for the continental breakfast was excellent. One nights stay wasn't enough to appreciate the tower. Would recommend it to others.

Wonderful, friendly hosts. Amazing property. A true fairy tale experience - and all to yourself, for the most part. The castle was decorated in classical "period" furniture, which truly added to the experience, but had all the comforts you could ever desire.

Tip: The Witchery for fine dining and Ghillie Dhu Ceilidh for dancing on Friday nights.

A great get away location, a very romantic room. Total privacy. To be able to use the Great Hall exclusively was wonderful. Log fire, brilliant. Through chats with the hosts and reading their photo book, gave us a step back into Scottish local history. We had a lovely time. Shame it wasn't longer.

Tip: The home of the Saltire (Athelstaneford)a very pretty church. North Berwick, beautiful beach (weather permitting), very friendly folk. Gullane, more lovely beaches and quaint tea shops, with fantastic homemade soups. Venture out & about, you never know what or who you may find.

We had such a fantastic weekend, the service was fab. The castle was amazing, extremely comfortable & welcoming.....with excellent facilities all round. We would definitely love to re-visit, as there was so much more to see!! 10 out of 10

Tip: Sue & Ian recommend the best places to visit, they know the area very well so is best to ask them. However North Berwick beach is beautiful on a nice sunny day!

Absolutely fantastic. It is an amazing place to stay. And the view on from the roof with all the fireworks for New Years couldn't have made our stay more perfect. Will be making this a getaway alot more in the future! It is everything you imagine and so much more.

Tip: Local towns and Edinburgh just down the road. Plenty to see and do!

we can't say enough about the wonderful experience we had at the castle. Sue was a most gracious host. She welcomed us into her home as if we were old friends. She told us all about the history of the castle and she gave us a tour of the castle. This castle is the best place we have ever stayed in. There are really no words that can adequately express our feelings.

Tip: we only stayed one night and wished we had booked longer. Take your time at this castle and allow a day to walk the grounds and explore the hillside.
