Stay in our guest suite within the castle tower
At the top of the 14th century old tower lies our B&B holiday accommodation, ideal for a romantic get-away and breaks to Edinburgh. The steep spiral staircase leads up past a glass walkway over the old dungeon and up to a rooftop walkway with panoramic views over the Firth of Forth. Why not enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the roof walk on a nice sunny morning?
The barrel vaulted bedroom has an en suite bathroom with stand-alone slipper bath. The bed is an enormous 7 foot wide ‘Emperor’ bed and there is a TV in the Great Hall. A microwave, mini-fridge, kettle and toaster are provided within the bedroom suite. A continental breakfast is provided for guests to enjoy at their leisure.
Guests staying in the Tower also have exclusive use of the finest room in the castle — the Great Hall — a magnificent old room with an original stone fireplace and log-burning stove, perfect for winter evenings. Stone window seats are built into the thick castle walls, and up on the ceiling are some of the original corbels from when the castle was destroyed by fire after the Battle of Pinkie.
From the battlements you can see the Forth Rail Bridge, Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh and the coast of Fife. The Tower sits within two and a half acres of garden including an orchard and sitting areas. Faside Estate is only ten miles from Edinburgh, with easy access to local golf courses, museums, towns and restaurants.
A friendly welcome and informative introduction to the tower. A genuine experience of living in casle. But with just the right amount of mod cons to make it an enjoyable experience. Breakfast supplied was enough for lunch too. Great place to stay if you enjoy your own space.

The accommodations at Fa'side Estate are absolutely fantastic and would return for another visit. The castle suite is so unique and we had everything we could have possibly ever needed for our little retreat, including an outstanding view of Edinburgh. The location was stunning and our hosts were gracious, fun and very knowledgeable.
Tip: We visited Mercat Bar and Grill twice during our stay. The menu had many delicious items to choose from and the flavours in each dish were outstanding. We had a terrific time with the staff as well, they were more than willing to chat and share stories.
The Tower is a great comfy & historic experience. Ian and Sue are doing a great job keeping this place alive and being hospitable. In addition to that the breakfast is excellent and you can get quite easy to Edinburgh using public transport (from Wallyford).
This was something a bit different than the norm, a privilege to stay within the thick walls of a real castle and imagining how it must have been in times gone by yet enjoying modern comforts.
Tip: Steep spiral stairs and low doors to encounter but all part of the experience. Fantastic views, very close to Edinburgh.
Lovely stay! The owners are very friendly and extremely helpful in regards to places to see and go to and where you can get a bite to eat. I would recommend Fa'side to anyone looking to stay in a castle during their stay in the area. If I ever make it that way again I would love to do a repeat stay here. We enjoyed the book on the history of the castle itself and the little tour Ian gave us before hand was great and very informative on the history behind the place. You are definitely missing out should you chose to stay somewhere else!! Thanks again for everything. We will be talking about our stay for a long time to come.
Tip: Of course go into Edinburgh and visit the castle and take a walk up and down the royal mile. We also went and say the House of Holyrood as well.
Absolutely loved our night in the tower - wish we had been able to stay longer.
Tip: Just stay at the tower and soak up the atmosphere - don't bother going anywhere else!
Everything was perfect. We wouldn't change anything about our stay. The food that was provided was absolutely fantastic. Thank you for being so amazing and for the fantastic stay!
WOW, what can we say about this beautiful castle and it's owners, Ian and Sue? So welcoming and gracious! We even got an amazing history lesson of the castle! The castle is absolutely stunning, beautifully decorated with views of the gorgeous Scotland countryside! We most definitely would recommend this castle to anyone wishing to stay in an "out of the ordinary" place!
An enchanting place to stay to be topped only by the most friendly hosts ever. A truly captivating and tranquil setting for a holiday to remember.
Tip: Just a short drive to the train into Edinburgh. Also the drive down the coast road to Northumberland is breath taking with a lovely beach at Coldingham bay.

Beautiful castle with charming owners. This is an ideal get away for one night or a week. The only negative is the need to rent a car.
This was the best part of our travels. The Castle is amazing and the view from the roof is unbeatable. Sue and Ian are very warm and welcoming, she gives you a full tour upon check in including the history of the castle. Sue cleaned and refreshed our breakfast items daily and everything was delicious! The bathtub is a little complicated because there is no shower curtain or doors, so its hard not to splash water out, but it fits the castle theme! The bed was so comfortable I never wanted to leave! Sue's daughter breeds horses and they just so happened to have 10 foals during our visit. Sue offered to take me out to them even though they were not located on the property. It was the best part of my day!!! Thank you Sue!!!
Tip: From the nearest Train station "Wallyford" a taxi ride is a flat 10 pounds one way. R & J taxi is familiar with the location and a great way to get back and forth. The stairs of the castle are narrow and very tall for stairs so get ready for that when you bring your luggage up!
Sehr gutes und gemütliches Hotel.
Very friendly & wecoming. More than happy to help whenever possible
An amazing and unforgetable place to stay. Humididity in the bedroom is unfortunate, but hard to avoid with wet weather and minimal ventilation. I enjoyed reading the book about the castle. I also appreciated the wide range of do-it-yourself breakfast options.
Tip: Get the train into Edinburgh to avoid driving in and parking. Don't pack more than you're prepared to carry up 3 flights of spiral stairs!
You normally cant get better than 10 out of 10 but I would give The Tower 11 out of 10. What an experience and a fabulous building. Ian and Sue were fantastic hosts. I loved everything about The Tower.
We were given a warm welcome from Ian and Sue when we arrived and was given a bit of history about the castle from its ruined state to the condition it is now .
A lovely place to stay. Owners are friendly and knowledgable regarding history of castle and surrounding area. Plenty breakfast supplies fresh each day. Attention to detail. We will be back.
